The Wait is Almost Over for One Man in Need of a Transplant

End the Wait founder, Randy Simpkins, received the following email November 11, 2025.

Good afternoon Randy,

I hope you have already seen online the miracle that transpired from your testimony and message at Villa Rica First Baptist Church, July 27th. Pastor Kevin revealed the miracle to the church this past Sunday, 11/9/25, close to the end of his sermon. You can log on to the church website to the live recordings of his sermon. I believe ya’ll will be inspired and blessed by the stories of what has unfolded as a modern day miracle.

Vernon has an appointment Friday, 11/14/25, for a living donor transplant at Emory. The donor is Patrice Williams, Pastor Kevin’s wife. We got the call last Tuesday that they both have been approved for surgery this Friday. We don’t have the words to express our appreciation for Patrice following God’s calling to be a donor. She is not only a blood type match, but also a genetic match. ONLY GOD!

And thank you for being obedient to leave your church to share your story.  We struggled as to where to attend church that day. Vernon mentioned going to a church closer to home, but we could never get a peace about where to go. We had already heard Pastor Kevin’s first two sermons of a Series: “How to Live a Christian Life”. We decided to go there and hear the third sermon in the series. When Austin Williams made the announcements that morning that there would be a guest speaker, I sighed and we wondered if we missed where God wanted us to worship that day. When you said you gave a kidney we looked at each other in amazement and immediately knew we where right where God was leading us. We were introduced to Patrice the next Sunday. She wanted to know more about Vernon’s story. August 7th, she called and after a lengthy conversation she said she was suppose to give Vernon a kidney. PRAISE THE LORD…

It has been a journey like nothing we have ever witnessed and you are a huge piece of the puzzle that God used to put together a beautiful picture of HIS faithfulness, hope, and love. Patrice said she had been praying for a long time that God would use her for something bigger than herself. HE changed the service that day to answer the desperate prayers of HIS children and a prayer of a servant saying, “Here am I, send me… WOW!!!!

Thank you and Christal for your prayers that day and for all you do to spread the word of the need for this life giving gift. You are making a difference. We can’t wait to see the movie. Your posts on Facebook were amazing. Your story is for HIS Glory!

In HIS Love,
Becky Abbott
