"Why Wait to be a Donor?"
Patrice & Vernon's Living Kidney Donation Story
My name is Patrice Williams. My living kidney donation journey started at the end of summer in 2025. I had been praying for God to use me for something much bigger than myself in my own personal life.
Not long after, Randy Simpkins with “End The Wait” came to our church and spoke about the organization’s mission. The very next Sunday a man named Vernon and his wife, Becky, came down and shared their heart and story. As they were talking to me, I could see the desperation in their eyes for needing a living kidney donor. With much prayer, medical testing and encouragement from “End the Wait,” I was a match for Vernon! The chances were slim, but God made a way.
On November 14, 2025 I donated my left kidney to Vernon at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Everything went smoothly, and we are both doing great! Vernon gets a second chance at life, and I get to witness it!
Being part of giving someone new physical life is so humbling yet rewarding. Why wait to be a donor after you are already deceased and can’t see the miracle before your own eyes? I would do it all over again and encourage others to help “End The Wait” for a kidney!
